My People Are Weird

There's a phrase that says something like "I love my friends and family. They're just as weird as me." That could not be more true of mine.

For instance, Griffin. He's a dopey moron but I love him as my best guy friend. After going about a week without speaking, we're back on the same page. I finally realized that he was either too stubborn or too naive to apologize for how he was acting a few weeks ago. So, I shared last Friday's post with him (the one with the "hint hint Griffin" line) and we were able to start speaking again. He's a dumbass but he's also MY dumbass.

If there's one thing that Kitty loves, it's change. She can't seem to sit still in one spot for too long or keep things the same for more than a few months at a time. That includes her office space layout, her work schedule, her leisure schedule and just about everything else. Thankfully for her husband, that doesn't also include him lol. They have their ups and downs, like any couple, but they're good for each other. At some point, I'll catch her on an off day (whenever those are for her) and we'll have another girl's day. 🙂

My newest addition, my muse, my flame, Aerith. I'm still learning each of her little nuances. That's to be expected since we've only been official for a few weeks. Mostly, any "issue" that I have is a non issue. It's more about me overthinking things. Anxiety sucks. Like I said though, that's more about me and how my brain perceives things. I can at least recognize that and keep telling myself "Everything is fine. You're just overthinking things. You're reading into things that aren't there. She isn't your ex. Just stay calm and enjoy getting to know your girlfriend." And I do. 😘

My mom is obsessed with certain things. Of course, at this point in her life, she's used to a set way of things and it can be hard to break that habit and schedule. She gets so worried about someone checking the mailbox that it's hilarious. Like even on Saturdays, it becomes almost a worry. This despite no mail the next day and it's not like we'll get cut off for leaving the mail for one whole day. Or the snow removal over the weekend. The porch had over a foot of snow on it with the levels surrounding the porch reaching the whole way up to the top. Literally, nowhere to put it. However, she keeps thinking that someone might show up (regardless of the time of day or the weather) or that the porch will cave in. Despite my best efforts, it looks like barely anything was done; as I expected. It can be annoying but it's not like it's a major problem either. Just one of her many quirks. If that's the price I pay for having the most loving and accepting mother ever then I'll gladly pay that price.

Willow is so much like me that it's scary. She loves video games, scary movies, and just being weird in general. I'm enjoying this while I can because I know that whenever her "monthly visitor" starts, all bets are off. No matter what though, she's easily the best thing I've ever done with my life and I'd absolutely go through my marriage again since it means I'd still end up with Willow here.

Speaking of my ex, she's been...odd lately. Well, more than usual. Whenever we text about Willow, she's been keeping it to either one line or even one word texts. Very unlike her. I feel like something's going on with her but she'll never tell me now since we're not together. As long as it doesn't negatively effect Willow, I don't care. Still, when you know someone for as long as I've known my ex (for better or worse), you tend to notice these things. No matter: she accepts me as I am and that's all I can ask for from her. Well, that and keeping her idiot of a current husband in line.

I have many more people in my life (and they know who they are) who have meant so much to me. Moreso, it's not that THEY have crazy quirks but that they can put up with mine. So, to all of you, I simply say thank you.

I do have an observation on someone who used to be in my group and hasn't been for some time.

But I feel like the latest craziness from MLD deserves its own post...
