Eventful Holiday Week Part 1: NYE

Hello, my loves! Happy New Year! I hope the past week went well for all of you. 😊

Mine was very eventful (hence the title of this post). In fact, so much has happened that I have to split it into several different posts this week.

We'll start with where we left off: my preparation for New Year's Eve. Aerith has invited me to spend the night with her and her friends. Of course, I excitedly accepted!

Sadly, I had to work that day. So, I got through that as an excited and nervous ball of energy; anxiously counting down the hours until I could hurry home and get ready.

I still had my daughter that day but was taking her to her mother's house that night. Willow was actually a big help with me deciding what to wear. This was also the first time that Willow saw me in person as Trixie.

She helped me decide on this outfit: a black, long sleeve top, my AC/DC printed tee, a pair of jeans, and my short black wig. Normally, I would wear my high top sneakers with this outfit. However, with it being winter, I stuck to my black military style boots with the skulls and roses on them. The finishing touches were my mood pendant necklace and my basic neck choker.

Willow said I looked "really nice." This gave me the confidence boost I needed. I was very nervous about meeting Aerith's friends.

So, I drove Willow to her mom's house and then headed for Aerith's place, which is about an hour away. As happened the night of our first date, it also snowed on New Year's Eve. Thankfully, not as bad. At least driving to her house.

I made sure to bring a few bags of chips for the party (there was already a huge pile of bags. So I just added to it lol). Aerith and I met with a hug as she began introducing me to everyone.

She had her younger sister, her younger brother, her roommate (who I believe is the girlfriend of her sister), and three of her friends (two of whom are in a relationship). Like with everyone else, I'm keeping their anonymity by not giving names (I'm still trying to remember their real names, let alone giving them all fake ones lol).

While Aerith's sister and roommate hung out with each other, I spent the night playing different board games with the rest of the group.

We started off with Queen by Midnight. Every character is like a reimagined Disney princess with like a post apocalyptic or steampunk vibe. I can't remember which princess I had but she was the Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde of the game.

Now, I won't go into too much detail on the rules of the game (mostly since I was still learning them myself that night) but you use action points to fight the other princesses and be the last one standing. I was doing well until one roll changed everything: one of Aerith's friends rolled a die that flipped everyone's health with their action points. I went from 30 health down to three. Not long after that, Aerith's brother wiped the floor with all of us. Still, it was fun.

Next, we played Hues and Cues. You have a board with all different colors across the spectrum and (based on verbal cues from one player) you have to guess which color the person is describing. The first to score 50 points wins. I don't remember for sure who won but we were all close.

The funniest part was one of Aerith's turns. Her first clue was "Woof!" Not having any idea, I just picked a color. Her second clue was "dog detective." Thinking she meant McGruff the Crime Dog, I went for the darkest brown spot on the board. As it turns out, she was describing the actual coordinates of the color: K-9. Everyone else sighed in disbelief as I laughed in sheer excitement. I told her "that was absolutely fn brilliant!" She was happy that somebody appreciated it.

The final game of the night was Red Dragon Inn. You're like a DnD group that finished the quest and now you're gambling and getting drunk at this bar. Whenever your health level drops down to your drunk level, you lose. I chose the ogre character as it was the simplest character to understand: he drinks, yells, beats people up and laughs about it. I made sure to use an ogre voice as well (like The Incredible Hulk).

Once again, I did well for a while. I made it to the final two before one of Aerith's friends was able to win. Aerith said this was her favorite game and I can understand why. She's a big time DnD player and this is right up her alley. I had fun and I'm sure it'll be even more fun as I learn to play better.

The end of the night came and I was preparing to drive home. This was about 1:30 AM; obviously, well after the ball dropped (I didn't get my midnight kiss but it's okay).

Aerith and her friends were all worried about me driving home, especially as a storm was supposedly on the way. I still decided to try it. I drove off from Aerith's place and made it back to the main road. I was on there for about a mile when the snow squall hit. Next thing you know, I can't see beyond five feet around me (possibly less than that). I quickly slowed down, turned on my four ways and looked for a side road on which I could turn around. Being unable to see any street signs due to the weather and with nobody else out, I did a 180 in the middle of the road and made my way back to Aerith's house. I could tell they were super relieved.

Thankfully, I brought my pee jays for just such an occasion. It was my pink Nirvana tee and my Stranger Things pajama bottoms. Aerith and I didn't sleep together as I took her recliner instead. Her siblings and her one friend were also stuck there and took various other furniture for their beds.

As mentioned, I didn't get my midnight kiss. However, Aerith was super excited and into each game with her friends and family. Plus, I'm not sure how big she is on PDA. So, I didn't mind. We were still flirty at times and her friends kept making jokes whenever we'd help each other ("we know who Trixie's helping," "of course she made that play to help her out," etc).

Overall, it was a very fun night. Her friends and siblings are so much fun. They remind me of my old group of friends back when they were all still around and we had the time and energy to hang out. I'll gladly hang out with them whenever I can and whenever they'll have me.

The excitement that was this past week for me continues tomorrow...but it's not always the good kind of excitement...
