Road Trip: Friday

Hello, my loves. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

If you've been following along, you know that I was super busy the last few days. As such, I'm breaking up my trip report into a couple of different posts.

Things actually started for me on Thursday night. I decided to paint my nails for the first time. Obviously, for a first try, things didn't go perfectly. Still, it went well enough and I was satisfied with the results.

I went with a basic black nail polish and I absolutely loved applying it. The only issue: I'd forgotten to buy nail polish remover. So, for all the mistakes I'd created over each of my fingers, I had to use rubbing alcohol with q tips. It worked well enough but was still somewhat of a pain.

Friday started off with my mother and I going to Willow's school play. She had the very important part of "Sailer 1" and she did fantastic with her one line! The play in general was super cute and enjoyable as they mostly did rock songs throughout the years.

I saved a seat for my ex since she did take the time to come and see our daughter perform. It was funny though: she looked right at my nails at one point as I was helping her with an app issue on her phone and it seemed to go completely over her head that they were painted lol.

As they play concluded, I drove my mom home and finished getting ready. I applied my standard makeup style and put on my long, brown wig. As for clothes, I wore my long sleeve black mesh shirt underneath my AC/DC top, my jeans, and blue high top sneakers. After making sure that everything was packed (except, as I found out later, my Wellbutrin; ironically enough), I headed out for my trip.

I should note that I did go with someone else (not Griffin as he couldn't make it). They know about the blog but have asked me not to discuss them other than this explanation. Since they're one of my absolute best friends, I will absolutely respect their privacy. But, any time I use singular nouns about events from the weekend, just know that it wasn't me going alone. I'm not that brave to go to the NYC area on my own.

Anyway, traffic wasn't too bad until I got closer and closer to East Rutherford. The amount of construction still occurring on the interstate in late November is crazy to me. Remember when they were done by October because the roads were all covered in snow? Whatever happened to that?

I was expecting to get to the hotel by 330-345 that afternoon. But due to traffic and construction, I didn't get there until after 5 PM.

I quickly checked in and changed up my outfit for my trip out. I switched into a regular long sleeve black shirt underneath a white dress top with slight black stripes and a pair of dark blue pants. I kept the same wig and reapplied my makeup. I had to stick with my sneakers as I never even considered buying dress shoes. It worked out either way.

Once I was ready to go, I called an Uber (no way was I driving into the city). As you would expect going into New York City, it took us nearly an hour to go just 12 miles.

The Uber driver dropped me off in Times Square and I made my way to the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner. Obviously, it was busy and no tables were readily available. So, I sat at the bar. I just stuck to drinking Cokes (my only ID is of my masculine self and I don't want to tempt fate with how bartenders might react if I asked for alcohol as Trixie and got carded). I tried out their buffalo wings to eat and while they were delicious, I'm glad I had a side of ranch with me. They were potent! I can only imagine how their super hot flavor must be if this was their basic buffalo style. Also, thank goodness the Coke refills were free because I had at least five of them lol.

I finished my meal and paid before I headed off to the main event of the night: a performance of Waiting for Godot starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter. Bill and Ted themselves!

Needless to say, this was my first time attending a Broadway play. It was an absolutely magnificent experience. Keanu was his usual, wonderful self and I was super impressed with Alex and his dramatic turns. The whole supporting cast was excellent as well. The whole play was a truly wonderful, enjoyable experience.

After that, I caught another Uber back to the hotel. This time, the trip only took about 30 minutes.

I got ready for bed, as I had another full day planned for Saturday, and laid my head down for sleep at approximately 1 AM. My internal clock woke me up at about 630 AM. Thanks, brain!

But Saturday is a story for another day. How does tomorrow sound?

Chat with you then. 🙂
